About Pegasus Veterinary Center

Our Story

Pegasus Veterinary Center was established in 2011 by Dr. Michael Hutchison, DVM, CVA. What began as a mobile equine practice soon expanded to include small animal medicine in response to the growing needs of the Tucson community.

Dr. Hutchison's connection to the clinic's location, however, began long before Pegasus was established. In 1993, he started his veterinary career at the very property Pegasus calls home today, which was then Alpine Veterinary Clinic, founded by Dr. Marinel Poppy. After several years of gaining experience, Dr. Hutchison went on to establish his own practice, Madera Veterinary Hospital, near Rita Ranch.

Following several years out of state, Dr. Hutchison returned home to Tucson and purchased the former Alpine Veterinary Clinic property. Bringing his career full circle, he transformed the location where his journey first began into what is now Pegasus Veterinary Center.

Today, Pegasus proudly continues its commitment to mixed-animal veterinary medicine, welcoming both horses and companion animals. With decades of experience and a compassionate, individualized approach, our practice combines conventional veterinary medicine with integrative treatment options to support each patient's unique needs. Our commitment remains the same: to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care while treating every animal as an individual.
